Dropping a Course

Requests to drop a course must be submitted in writing. Please contact TOA Registrar at toa_registration@lacoe.edu if you need to drop a course.

TeachStar Courses (Non-VPSS)

A full refund will be issued if drop request is submitted before 5 pm PT on the Friday two weeks prior to the start date of the course. No refund will be issued if drop request is submitted after 5PM on the Friday two weeks prior to the start date of the course.

A course fee credit will be issued for a future course if drop request is submitted before 5 pm PT on the 7th calendar day of the course. No credit will be issued if drop request is submitted after 5 pm PT on the 7th calendar day of the course.

No Credit will be issued if drop request is submitted after 5 pm PT on the 7th calendar day of the course.

Verification Process for Special Settings (VPSS) Courses

No refunds will be made once we receive your VPSS registration form and tuition fee.

By submitting this registration form, you agree that you have read and stated that you meet the VPSS Guidelines available at:

As outlined in the "California's Verification for Special Settings VPSS" document above, to use the VPSS Process, the teacher must:

  1. Have at least a bachelors degree;
  2. Have a California State credential or have an intern Certificate/Credential for no more than three years;
  3. Have demonstrated NCLB High Quality Teacher compliance in one NCLB Core Academic Subject as defined in NCLB (20 USC 9101 [11]) including elementary multiple subjects; and
  4. Be assigned to teach one or more core academic subjects in the following settings:
    • Secondary special education settings
    • Secondary alternative programs
    • Secondary Small Rural School Achievement (SRSA) Programs

If you do not qualify for the VPSS Process, please refer to the "California's Verification for Special Settings VPSS" document for other processes that you may use.

Course Cancellation

TeachStar Online Academy reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or combine courses, and to change instructors. Courses may be canceled prior to the course start date if fewer than the required minimum number of students enroll. If a course is canceled or rescheduled, you may request a refund.
