This VPSS online course guides teachers through five weeks of professional development. The course provides teachers with:
- Access to mentor teachers through interactive, moderated coursework
- Anytime, anywhere instruction and learning
- Access to a wide range of resources
- Multimedia enhanced content
- Opportunity to earn Graduate and CEU credits, and professional development hours
The class meets for five weeks of online instruction. Participants build their content knowledge and repertoire of effective instructional strategies to enable students to meet secondary level content standards. During the course, students will develop their understanding in the math domains: Statistics, Data Analysis, Probability, Geometry and Algebra. The class includes direct instruction and hands-on applications through a virtual format. Interactions with participants and instructor are included in Discussion Board topics and Portfolio submissions. Participants will apply their learning by writing comprehensive standards-based math lesson plans.
University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension Credit
4.5 Quarter Units
$250 UCLA Tuition Fee (This is in addition to the TeachStar Online tuition fee.)
During the 2nd week of your course, you may apply for UCLA Extension Credits through UCLA Extension. You must apply, either by mail or by phone, for the UCLA Extension Credits before the end date of your online course. If you choose to apply for credits after the end date of you will be charged a late fee. You have up to six months after the end date of your courses to apply for these credits. You will send your payment directly to UCLA Extension. Please note, that there will be no refunds from UCLA Extension if you change your mind. You must complete and pass the course to receive the credits.
