Teaching with Universal Design for Learning

This course will enable you to begin implementing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework systematically in your classroom. Over the course of eight learning modules, you will explore the concept of learner variability and the necessity of flexible learning experiences. You will delve into the UDL Guidelines and Checkpoints and apply them to your practice. You will examine factors outside of instruction that impact learning, including emotions, physiology, and the physical environment. Finally, you will engage in a backwards planning process to create a lesson aligned to the UDL Guidelines. This course is laid out in 8 modules to be completed over 9 weeks. The approximate time to review the content and complete all assignments is 25 hours.

UCLA Extension Credit

  • 4.5 Quarter Units (3 Semester Units)
  • $250 UCLA Extension Tuition Fee – This is in addition to the TeachStar Online tuition fee.
  • You will have an opportunity to register with UCLA Extension during the 2nd week of the course.
