TEAL-MEDIA-ARTS

Media Arts Integration through Digital Storytelling in the K-6 Classroom

Technology Enhanced Arts Learning Project

K-6 Grade Level
Self-Paced
No cost
Not eligible for salary points and/or graduate credits.

Participants will explore the use of digital storytelling to support K-6 student literacy, beginning with an introduction to the elements of movies and filmmaking, which includes animation, the elements of story and plot, and the principles of basic film production and digital storytelling. Throughout the module are activities and examples that can be used by the participant and applied in the classroom. Ways in which to help students provide critical feedback are suggested, along with sample project timelines to guide the launch of digital storytelling in the classroom. A walkthrough of standards is not included, as during the development of this module, the state of California did not include media arts standards in the Visual and Performing Arts framework.
