Participants will examine and consider how to begin transitioning to California’s Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts (CCSS for ELA) for K-5 Reading Standards for Informational Text. The goal of the CCSS is that all students will be college and career ready in literacy no later than the end of high school. This course provides an opportunity for participants to carefully examine the CCSS for Reading Informational Text. Participants will learn new strategies through video examples, in-depth readings, and interactive activities that will help them apply their learning to their own classrooms and transition to the new standards.
